Please call Dale for availability at 1-800-267-5522. The following is a description of this print. Here we have a White Rose station being transformed from one company logo to another. The "Boy with Slate" logo was used from 1917, until being retired in Canada during 1939. This unique logo was being replaced with the newly designed White Rose flower logo that can be seen on the sign pole. The "Boy with Slate" was probably the best known logo of its time. To attract the passing motorist, a message was put on the slate board and changed every few days by the dealer. The different sayings, called EN-AR-CO-GRAMS were sent out to each dealer location every month by the Canadian Oil Company. In the early sixties, the story of "White Rose" drew to a close as the company was bought out by the expanding Shell Oil Company of Canada Limited and by the mid-sixties the once familiar White Rose had disappeared from the highways of Canada. Gone, but not forgotten are the memories of what White Rose Service Stations did for the automobile industry. This location is generic and could be anywhere along the busy Trans-Canada Highway. On a warm summer day in 1941, this White Rose station was a very active place. A 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery is parked in front of the general store as a 7up salesman is delivering a new soft drink display. There is also a 1941 Chevrolet Pick-up truck and a very unique Maple Leaf one ton dump truck just pulling in for fuel. The most interesting vehicle in this painting is the 1926 Graham heavy-duty tow truck with it's Weaver Auto Crane and a bright new red paint job. This 1926 Graham has been fully restored and can be seen on display in our Cambridge location.
